The U-233 Disposition Project involves the disposition of U-233 materials stored in the Building 3019 Complex at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Additional objectives of the U-233 Disposition Project include the deactivation of Building 3019 to a safe and stable shutdown condition for transfer to the Department of Energy (DOE) Environment Management (EM) program for future decommissioning.
The mission of the Nuclear Safety Verification Project is to review implementation of safety controls for fissile material operations as described in the Integrated Safety Analysis (ISA) at General Electric’s (GE) nuclear fuel manufacturing facility located in Wilmington, North Carolina. Additional objectives of the Nuclear Safety Verification Project include revision of the NCS analyses and implementing NCS documentation for the facility.
The NCS program assessment involved performing a review of the NCS program at URENCO USA low enriched uranium gaseous centrifuge facility located in Eunice, New Mexico. This assessment focuses on a programmatic review of the following documents: NRC inspection reports, prior NCS program assessments, URENCO’s SNM license, NCS program procedures, Integrated Safety Analysis (ISA) documents, and other NCS supporting documents and analyses.
The Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant Transition Project involved the transition of the Paducah GDP (PGDP) from United States Enrichment Corporation (USEC) leased and operated facilities to DOE owned and operated facilities as well as ongoing Environmental Management Program (EMP) activities. NovaRei Solutions provided technical support on the Paducah Environmental Technical Services (ETS) contract in carrying out the DOE Portsmouth Paducah Project Office (PPPO) Nuclear Safety Program and Integrated Safety Management Systems (ISMS) activities in accordance with 10 CFR 830, Subpart B, and DOE orders, standards, guidance, local policies, and directives. Objectives of the PGDP Transition Project include authorization basis/safety basis documentation for 38 nuclear facilities at the PGDP ranging in categorization from hazard category 2 to hazard category radiological, hazards analyses, NCS program development, characterization, and facility hazard categorization/classification documentation.
